Since being established in mid-2017, we have been asked several times, "Why is your logo a flame?"
Our logo is a representation of the pure energy, the light, the warmth that we each have somewhere Deep inside of us. Fire is as pure as energy comes. Existing in a duality, even within its destructive force it harnesses the ability to make way for new creation. Here, at IPFwellness, we invite you to Maintain your flame. Make way for new creation in yourself and within your life. Our hope is for you to be the most authentic and whole version of yourself. Our vision is for you to realize wellness in its purest form.
In 2004, Founder and Mental Health Professional, Adejare McMillan, was living with and struggling to push forward through depression. Despite being in such a dark place at that time, Adejare lived to find himself in 2013 graduating with his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Over the next twelve months, Adejare searched for meaningful, positively impactful positions in the Criminal Justice field to no avail. During that time, he drew two conclusions. First, the justice system was not constructed to rehabilitate people who have made mistakes. Second, he desired to be an agent of rehabilitation; not the prescription of punishment.
In 2014, Adejare made the decision to pursue credentials that would allow him to live his dream. He spent over two years acquiring knowledge and honing different skillsets. During his studies, Adejare provided clinical mental health services to youth, ages 13 to 19 and involved in the Department of Juvenile Justice, in a school setting. There, he utilized Cognitive Behavioral, Existential, and Behavioral therapeutic techniques under the supervision of licensed supervisor. May of 2017 Adejare crossed the stage of his alma mater, Nova Southeastern University – receiving his Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling, equipped to step forward in love, determination, and confidence to influence lasting change. Since graduating, Adejare has been at work in various realms of mental health. Having worked in Community Mental Health Centers and Private Substance Use Treatment Facilities has given Adejare invaluable experience to be of service whenever and however he is able.
IPFwellness was born of that journey.
